Shipping management is a system of organizing and executing orders for goods via different transportation methods include by sea routes. Huge cargo vessels are loaded with stocks of different goods that are then transported from the place of manufacture to the place of consumption. Everything from the packaging to the number of orders to be sent and the kind of containers to be used needs to be properly planned for the effective transfer of goods. All this forms a part of the planning process. The shipping consignment needs to be planned in such a way so that the goods arrive at the expected port on time and also undergo minimum possible damage or loss so that there are more revenues for the company.

Execution is another element that is mainly concerned with the actual implementation of the plans that have been made with regard to the shipping process.

The last and most vital element is controlling and monitoring the shipping process. There is a proper follow up of the orders and the goods sent are regulated so as to ensure that they have reached their destination as per plans.
